I thought that path was easy, paved, and strewn with roses, and extremely simple.

But I collided with the memory of awareness and the fact that it is “the profession of hardship.” They required us to work in a recognized daily newspaper as a “collaborator,” and to tour all of its sections: News, Interviews, Investigations, Field Surveys, in addition to writing press reports, articles, and press analysis.

The journalistic assignments—coverages, news, and press conferences—were exhausting and difficult in different and distant places. Those experiences as collaborators weighed heavily on us, and we became well practically trained. This professional progression shapes you into a professional journalist who can practice all forms of journalistic work.

In addition, you had to pass the profession’s licensing exam (the “Press Registration”) through the Sudanese Journalists Union. This is the natural path to become one of the people of this unique and distinguished profession in Sudanese society.

Perhaps the general public does not distinguish between the professional journalist who has practically and academically practiced all forms of journalism as a profession, and between those who came to it through the gate of writing articles and analyses, or by passing the profession exam (Press Registration).

In Sudan, many people from other humanities specializations can intrude upon the profession of journalism through professional encroachment or professional impersonation, according to illogical, unobjective, and unethical standards.

Today, in the Sudanese journalistic field there are large groups who claim they are journalists by origin. They are searching for fame, money, and elite social circles. In truth, they are “contractors” who entered the field through the gate of advertising or political nominations in party media offices that used to deal with newspapers.

The fundamental question is: What are the professional standards that define the specifications of a complete professional journalist, versus those who have intruded upon the profession of journalism and thrown it into the abyss? They have diminished the value of the journalist in Sudanese society and cheapened the weight of practicing journalism by entrenching principles that have nothing to do with the ethical charters of professional honor.

Journalism has become like a household goods market, or currency trading, or the contracting business, or land brokers.

Who is responsible for the decline of the ethics of this noble humanitarian profession to low levels of evaluation among other professional sectors?
They are *the new intruders* who wear the attire of false journalism as a shell and social prestige, nothing more, in public work. These pirates have distorted the profession of journalism and made it into a repellent profession that no one cares to belong to..!?

Electronic media and journalism have caused rampant chaos that struck Sudanese journalism at the core of its history, its constants, and its professional components, as both a practice and a distinct and distinguished societal sector with a bright history full of national achievements at the level of national political history.

Sudanese journalism used to shape the leadership of society’s culture and its influence on public opinion as a means of acculturation, enlightenment, and keeping pace with all realms of life. It contributed to entrenching the foundations of public taste for citizens.

But this reality quickly changed after the emergence of social media platforms and what is called “mobile journalism.” Waves of foreign groups entered the field of electronic journalism who have nothing to do with journalistic professional standards and did not undergo its exams or technical requirements.

This deteriorating reality has brought to the scene models of journalists with behaviors alien to the people of journalism: slander, arrogance, and false pride. They mock the true pioneers of Sudanese journalism and their efforts since the founding of journalism’s history.

They do not adhere to the ethics of the profession or its Charter of Honor. For them, it is merely a market for profit and making a living.

*From where did these people come..!?*

Twenty-five years ago, I wanted to enter the world of Sudanese journalism and pursue it as a young Sudanese man searching for an opportunity in life, and to bask in the shade of prestigious social status when people simply point to you and say “you are a journalist.” That society was so simple and its …

[7
